RODARTE Charity tribute to Maggie Cheung
Rodarte wanted to surprise Unicef with a charity collection, and the result is simply great. The American brand have created a range of dresses inspired by Maggie Cheung, the famous Asian actress.
This time Rodarte have teamed up with Swarovski Elements and actress Maggie Cheung. Kate and Laura Mulleavy have created some exclusive handmade dresses that are really unique.
The dresses were inspired by legendary films Maggie has starred in: In the Mood for Love, Clean and Heroic Trio.

【明報專訊】由剪開一件Chanel連身裙自學剪裁做衫、膽粗粗去紐約自薦到名成利就，時裝品牌Rodarte的創辦人兼主腦Kate與Laura的經歷，就像一部勵志片。難得的是，她們倒真的人生如戲，故事so far仍保持happy ending格局，戲中主角沒有被名利磨平至太圓滑世故或者變質。她們仍真誠地活在姊妹倆共同塑造的世界，起碼與她們訪問後確是作如是觀。
在時裝界，Rodarte固然是近年冒起得最快、無人不曉的名字。不過，Rodarte在墨西哥亦是無人不曉，因為那是當地一個大姓，只因Kate與Laura的母親是墨西哥人，姊妹倆以母親的姓氏為品牌命名。因此，當她們只用了短短5年時間，由時尚新人躍升成為獲頒CFDA年度女設計師獎的設計師；當她們的設計被博物館納入為永久收藏，事情就發生了。「我們收到許多來自墨西哥的電郵，內容都是說他們都是姓Rodarte，我們的遠房親戚可多着。」Kate說得認真，我們卻全被逗笑了。Laura說Kate是她認識的人之中最幽默的一個，果真不假。
其實是次Kate與Laura來港乃是受Joyce邀請，以張曼玉曾演出的電影角色為藍本，設計4套服飾作慈善拍賣之用。事實上這絕非硬拉硬湊的配搭，Kate與Laura其實是影癡，她們過去曾於多個訪問中表示最希望可為張曼玉設計衣服，是次屬願望成真。

本地型店 Joyce號召全球時裝靈魂人物作慈善企劃，力邀美國當紅設計姊妹花 Kate& Laura Mulleavy合組的時裝品牌 Rodarte、 Style icon張曼玉及水晶名牌 Swarovski Crystallized合作。 Rodarte以張曼玉在四齣電影《錯過又如何》（ Clean）、《英雄》、《東方三俠》及《花樣年華》的造型作繆思，設計了四套 art piece作暗標慈善拍賣，收益全數撥捐聯合國兒童基金會（ Unicef），彰顯善與美。

Rodarte Teaming Up with Target This Winter
In what's possibly the most exciting collaboration in the history of Target's Go International line, WWD reported today that the retailer is teaming with Rodarte for a 55-piece collection that will hit shelves on December 20. Prices are expected to range from $9.99 (for knee-highs) up to $79.99 (for a leopard print jacket).

Kate and Laura Mulleavy won what was a much-deserved award last night: Womenswear Designer of the Year at the CFDAs. If you polled any fashion editor in the last few days, they'd have said that everyone deserves to win, and then have whispered, "Rodarte." Indeed, the girls from Pasadena have come a long way from their parents' pool house — well, metaphorically speaking.
